Game Day- Senators Finish California Trip in San Jose

At present, there are three teams below Ottawa in the league standings.

Three!

With two more points, that list could grow to five. A third straight win tonight in San Jose and the Ottawa Senators could find themselves sitting in a tie for 23rd overall.? Oh and uhh 11 points out of a playoff spot. Hmm.

The streaking (two wins counts as a streak right?) Senators face the red hot Sharks in San Jose.

After getting off to a bit of a rocky start, this San Jose Sharks team is starting to look the part of a contender.

Up front they have the likes of Thornton, Pavelski, Couture, Meir, Kane, Melker Karlsson and Hertl. Extremely dangerous forwards with talent throughout the line up. And their blueline might be the best in the NHL. They have Burns, Vlasic, Dillon, Simek, Ryan, Heed and the list goes on and on.

They come into this one having won five straight and they’ve outscored their opponents by a 23 to 11 margin. 4.6 goals a game.

Pavelski, Couture, Kane, Hertl and Burns. They’ve all be on fire lately. Those five guys in particular have really stepped up their game and are carrying the rest of the group.

Man, what a team those San Jose Sharks.

Goes without saying but this will be a big game for a handful of Senators. Chris Tierney, Dylan DeMelo and Rudols Balcers all make their return to San Jose for the first time since the big Josh Norris trade from this past summer.

Injuries continue to pile up for the Sens who will now be without Colin White for at least a couple weeks. Here’s how they are expected to line up tonight.

Anders Nilsson gets another start for Ottawa. Puck drop is scheduled for just after 10:00 PM. Pace yourselves, folks.

The game is available on CBC with a good set of rabbit ears, Sportsnet ONE and TVA sports. Might even be able to stream it if you play your cards right.

-Yesterday was a tragic day in our City and another painful reminder of just how fragile life can be even in the most routine moments.? It’s something that will hit close to home for many even if you don’t know someone involved. You almost certainly know someone that rides the bus everyday. You’ve probably been on one yourself. Maybe you’ve been on that route. Even as the hours pass, there is still this sense overwhelming sadness for all the people involved. For the people are still worried about their loved ones. Mostly, for the Ottawa residents that didn’t make it home last night. Thoughts remain with all those impacted by this terrible accident.
